There are no birthdays today
Last Thursday, Senators Leah Vukmir and Paul Farrow gave testimony about their bill, SB 619. There were many people who wished to speak at that hearing both for and against SB 619. Unfortunately, Senator Luther Olsen rigged the schedule of speakers so that mostly those who wanted to speak against the bill went first. This left many of us who wanted to speak for the bill pushed to the back of the line and many were unable to speak due to previous commitments (like picking their kids up from school!)
Senate Bill 619 is a bill that defines a clear process for adopting academic standards in Wisconsin. This bill:
Today I'm asking that you EMAIL senators Vukmir and Farrow thanking them for introducing the bill and letting them know that you appreciate that they are dealing with an obnoxious chairman in fighting this battle.
Then make a CALL to Senator Luther Olsen and give him a piece of your mind!
Our call for Monday, March 10th will be to:
Senator Luther Olsen - Senate Education Committee Chair - (608) 266-0751
(also email Senator Olsen at Sen.Olsen@legis.wisconsin.gov)
You can use a message similar to the following:
“I find it despicable how you arranged testimony at the SB619 hearing to favor DPI. Its clear to me that your wife's involvement with CESA has clouded your judgement to such an extent that you cannot even give a good bill a FAIR HEARING. Do the right thing and hold an executive session on SB619 so that this bill can be voted out of committee."
Don't forget to email Senators Vukmir and Farrow:
Senator Leah Vukmir - Sen.Vukmir@legis.wisconsin.gov
Senator Paul Farrow - Sen.Farrow@legis.wisconsin.gov
with a message similar to this:
"Senator, I appreciate all the aggravation you've had to deal with in working against the chairman of the Senate Education Committee on SB 619. Your perseverance is noticed and greatly appreciated. Keep up the good work on behalf of our children!"
